My plastic checkbook cover was beginning to tear at the fold after providing several years of faithful use. DH offered a leather one from a defunct checkbook calculator he once had, which I happily accepted. However, there was a problem: my checkbook now looked EXACTLY like his! That absolutely was ASKING FOR TROUBLE. So I grabbed a bottle of nailpolish I had previously used to embellish my cell phone (for the same reason of identicality-- a word I just coined.) Above you see the result. Like it? I do!!
